It's Mainly Because of the Meat Cookbook from Dominion Stores 1969

Condition:  Good  - Clean- No Notes or Highlighting. No food or water damage.  Binding loosening, some wear along the spine- otherwise minimal edgewear.

The Dominion chain of grocery stores was once Canada's largest, dominating the supermarket scene. One of Dominion's advertising slogans was "Its Mainly Because of the Meat" with TV ads featuring a smiling butcher.   It's Mainly Because of the Meat Cookbook recipes are not particularly appetizing.  but I do recall a childhood fondness for Mac and Cheese with chopped up hot dogs.  The book  includes classic recipes for steaks, roasts and stews and  charts related to cuts of beef, roasting times, and storage.  What makes the book enjoyable are the obviously flawed recipes and truly indescribable food photography.  Definitely a whimsical addition to any Canadian cookbook collection.
