Duane Hanson is a catalogue of an exhibition held at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from Feb. 3 to May 1, 1994. This catalogue brings to print the captivating work of Duane Hanson, (1925-1996) acknowledged as one of the 20th century's preeminent sculptors. His first sculptures were produced in the turbulent years of the 1960s and reflected the social and political climate of the era. By 1970, Hanson had developed his style of portraying American "types" -- shoppers, tourists, children, workmen and businessmen. Hanson's sculptures helped lead the way to the development of the late 20th-century movement first identified as Mannequin Art.
