The Cookery Book contains 210 recipes submitted by Mona’s Relief Society (Cleveland Manx Society). While not all recipes are purely Manx, a section is dedicated to tried-and-true Manx dishes. Mona’s Relief Society and Mona’s Mutual Benefit Society assisted immigrants from the Isle of Man, with Mona being the historic name for the island. Mona’s Relief Society was founded in 1851 by 21 Cleveland Manx settlers and, by the mid-1970s, had grown to 133 members and was known as the Cleveland Manx Society. This collectible community cookbook is a treasure for anyone with Manx heritage.
